Interiors

Along with her eye for colour and pattern, Jan is hugely loyal to the more classical elements of interior decoration but ultimately believes that the home should be a joyful space for everyone to enjoy. Her background in the design of furnishing and fashion fabrics provided a great foundation to her career in interiors, and at the very beginning of her interiors journey, she was influenced by the well known British homewares brands such as Morris & Co, and Laura Ashley, where upon graduation she begun her career as an Interior Designer based in Oxfordshire.

It was during this time that she started working more closely on the interiors of country and period houses and realised that this was an area of decoration that fascinated her, and within a few years she began assisting architectural historian and designer Edward Bulmer decorating some of our most beautiful historical houses throughout the UK. Craftsmanship became key to almost every element of the decorative process, and during these years Jan learnt valuable lessons about design, the beauty of interior architecture and all of its bespoke elements. Now with a family of her own, Jan works independently on Country House interiors, layering up colour and pattern wherever she can, and working with expert joiners, upholsterers, lighting designers and more to bring all of the design elements together for her clients.

And naturally, she still loves to design her own linens and bespoke printing whenever possible – see fabrics and botanicals pages for more detail!

Jan usually undertakes a handful of projects each year within the UK. For more details about how she can assist you with your upcoming project and fees of services provided, please email Jan at: info@janjaydesign.co.uk
