FAQ

What fabric do you use?

We use a combination of linen and linen union for our printed fabrics.

All cushions and bags are printed onto 100% heavyweight Irish linen in Oatmeal and Oyster.

Fabric sold by the metre is printed onto a linen union made up of 55% linen and 45% cotton. We have carefully selected this base cloth for our furnishing fabrics based on its durability and its close resemblance to that of a hand printed cloth. Due to the nature of this fabric there may be small imperfections or flecks within the print and what we refer to as a natural ‘slub’ within the weave of the cloth. We feel these little imperfections give our fabric its own unique stamp and natural feel.

What is your fabric suitable for?

Our linen union fabric is perfect for all soft furnishings and general domestic upholstery.

To calculate the fabric required for your project we recommend supplying all fabric details to your chosen curtain maker or upholsterer so that they can tell you the exact amount needed. For general domestic upholstery we always advise using a fire retardant liner.

Do you offer samples?

Larger returnable samples are also available through the website and measure approximately 70 x 50cm. We charge £20.00 for all returnable samples (including UK postage) and this amount is fully refundable once received back into our stock in good condition within 21 days of order.

Do you offer other print colours?

We love working with new clients on their projects, and can offer bespoke colourways if you can’t find one that works for you. We also welcome private commissions to create new designs tailor made for your project. Please contact info@janjaydesign.co.uk to discuss your requirements.

How do I look after my fabric?

Our fabrics are fixed and colourfast but if cleaning is required, we recommend dry cleaning or using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, then allowing your fabric to dry naturally.

What if I want to return or cancel my order?

We are certain that you will be delighted with your order from Jan Jay Design. All of our fabric by the metre is printed to order so we cannot accept returns unless faulty. We do recommend purchasing a small swatch or returnable before making your purchase, however please note that there may be slight colour variation between different batches of printed fabric.

As many of our products are hand printed, they may vary slightly in appearance which is the nature of a handmade item. We feel this adds to their character and is not to be considered a fault.

We always recommend checking your fabric order once it arrives.

If a product is faulty we ask that you contact us immediately by emailing info@janjaydesign.co.uk to arrange a return. Please note that we cannot take responsibility for fabric once it has been cut.

Should you wish to cancel your order with Jan Jay Design you may do so by contacting us immediately at info@janjaydesign.co.uk
